My first boss, David Howard, was a world-class 9-ball player. He was strict about doing the job right. We were never allowed to use brad nailers to install felt. Tables had to be 100% level — no exceptions. If it wasn’t, we tore it down and did it again. He could tell if our staples were too far apart. The felt had to be stretched perfectly, rails wrapped flawlessly. We became the best at what we do. Today, I get calls from across the country — even other countries. David’s pro friends always had great things to say about our work.

I became a semi-pro player myself. In the '90s, I was ranked in the top 10 in Florida. My eyesight and nerves aren’t what they used to be, but I can still play decent. I also give pool lessons — for all levels. I can teach beginners how to stand, stroke, aim, and practice correctly. I can coach advanced players with strategies and ball placement. A lot of them think, "If you're not world-class, how could you understand?" That’s fair — but they’re missing the point. Mental game challenges affect everyone.
